People Watching

What is people watching? is it a hobby? a talent? a sport? well, whatever it is, i'm good at it. I people watch all the time, and I'm reminded of important life lessons when i do. here are two stories:

1. It was easter weekend, and we went down to st george/vegas. One night my mom, sister, and i were walking up and down the strip. It was kinda late and some of the stores were closing. As we walked past this karaoke bar, i saw someone amazing. This man, probably in his seventies, in a sequined black shirt just singing his heart out. He wasn't amazing, and he wasn't terrible. The beautiful thing about this story is that no one was listening to him. The even more beautiful thing was that he didn't care. Ever since this day, i have been striving to be like him. Not wrinkly and poorly dressed, but I have tried to live up every moment. Life is too short to be anything but happy.

2. Me and my friend Callie were taking an adventure downtown to go shopping. And oh, it was an adventure. From boys staring at us for abnormal amounts of time, to the crazy hippie man telling us his life story. We had such a fun time and we were on our way back, riding on trax, when an inspiring family walked on to the train. The father was holding the daughter in his arms and the mom had a shaved head. At first glance, you wouldn't think much. But if you looked closer, you could see that the daughter had a bandana on her head and she was obviously incredibly sick. I was touched by the love i could see radiating from her parents, and i was reminded that you should cherish every moment you have with someone, because you never know how long you have with them.

Now i dont personally know the karaoke man, or the other family, but they have touched my life. Be careful out there everybody, you never know when people watchers are watching you.
